Sorry I you’ve answered this a million times, but I can’t find it on your page…Which top surgery did you get? (your chest looks great!)

I know I have answered this before, but upon checking my FAQ’s I couldn’t find it either. Apologies for that.

I had a double incision without nipple grafts. My nipples were removed entirely in the first surgery, and my incisions left to heal.
Once the initial surgery was healed, my surgeon then surgically created new nipples from my skin, while I was under twilight sedation. This was actually amazing to watch, something from nothing.
Once the nipples themselves were healed, I then had my areola and pigmentation of the nipples cosmetically tattooed on.

This way, I got to choose the exact size, color and location of my nipples entirely and my surgeon did not have to focus on anything other than achieving the best possible male contour for my chest. It is the procedure my surgeon reccomended, although they do the “traditional” nipple graft variation alongside peri-areola also.

As an aside, this question is now in my FAQ page located here.

do you have scars or did they fade, what do you do about top surgery scars? (and what kind of surgery did you get?)

I have faint scars on my chest which you can sort of see in my Avatar and this picture here (taken years ago).

I had double incision, with NO nipple grafts; that is the surgeon completely removed my natal nipples and areola, and once my chest itself had healed, surgically reconstructed them. The areola coloration was cosmetically tattooed on once nipples had healed.

I chose this type of procedure as I had no care for nipple sensation at all, wanted to be able to choose exactly what size my nipples were and where they were located.

All in all, I am exceptionally happy with the results. Perhaps I’ll get my areola pigmentation touched up, but that’s a perhaps.

As far as scars are concerned, I used nothing at all except Bio-Oil, which I’ve written about here.

So, in-between being a Father and Husband again, before I become employed full-time – I’ll have a few spare hours each day to answer any questions.

If you’ve been wanting to ask things, now is the time they are far more likely to get answered promptly.

Ask here. As always, anonymous is enabled.

Ugh, I’m not sure if I’ll leave the previous post up for very long.

It’s giving me anxiety and making me paranoid.

Edit:
I’ve taken down the comparison photos from pre and post Bio-Oil application due to me feeling uncomfortable.

I am more than willing to share the photograph on a person-to-person basis through private asks, so if you feel inclined do not hesitate to contact me and request the image. Apologies.

Would you mind uploading a picture of your chest from before and after you started using Bio-oil? I’ve been looking for some effective scar treatment since I had top surgery and even though lots of people have mentioned Bio-Oil I was dubious because it has vitamin E in (and I was strongly advised to avoid vitamin E by my surgeon). Don’t worry if not :)

Hey, I’d be fine with doing this – the only thing is it may take me a few days or so due to time constraints.
I’ve not heard that Vitamin E was bad for scar care, but I never really did that much research and used Bio-Oil as it was reccomended by my surgeon.

I’ll get to taking photos and locating old ones (this will take the most time) ASAP.

Scar Care Many Years Post-Op.

This is something I have wanted to address for a little while now, but not had the time to do so properly.

When I first had chest surgery I was reluctant to treat my scars for the first few months. After that I attempted to use various scar treatments in order to lessen the red coloring and slightly raised nature of my scars. This didn’t have much of a visible effect due to my inconsistency; I found massaging my scars triggering in a horrible way. I also had very prominent stretch marks on my chest due to years of horrible binding methods.

I left my scars alone for many years, allowing my chest hair to cover them. I still was not comfortable revealing my chest in public, despite my chest being very well healed and the scars no where near as visible as many other guy’s chests.

Fast forward to last week when I was cleaning out the bathroom cupboard and came across a bottle of Bio-Oil I had purchased a while back to apply on my scars. I was unsure if too much time had passed for any scar treatment to be remotely useful – but it was worth a shot because I had scar care readily avaliable.
I shaved my chest in the shower (I fucking hate chest stubble! Ew!) and once dried, massaged my scars and stretch marks for approximately five minutes each side. I’ve done this for almost a week daily now, and I could not believe the results after a few applications.

I really feel it’s the massage coupled with the Bio-Oil which is working; the massage being the most effective part of the duo. I feel it increases circulation into the scar tissue, allowing the scars to become much more representative of sourrounding skin tone.
I noticed that not only did my scars fade to almost nothing in terms of coloration, but that my massaging seemed to flatten out the slightly small areas where I had almost pimple-sized bumps from stitches healing. The ends of my incisions were slightly raised (approximately 1-2mm above the surface of the rest of my skin) and this has made them lessen dramatically also.

I guess the purpose of this post was to inform men who have had surgery quite a while back to not give up on scar treatment. It may still work. In fact, I now have somewhat of a renewed confidance that eventually, with massage and scar treatment I can get my scars to a level which I will find acceptable to become shirtless in public.

I found the paperwork for my chest surgery which I had done in 2007 with Dr Megan Hassall in Sydney, Australia.

Please note this is six years old and therefore very outdated in terms of pricing. It also does not include the anasthetist fees or Dr Hassall’s actual surgical fees which were each over $1000 if I recall correctly. This is the hospital breakdown of fees only, nothing else. If you have private health care part or all of the private hospital stay will be covered, and usually you are required to stay more than one day – but seeing as I didn’t have insurance I stayed the bare minumim.

I also paid for hotel accomodation on top of this, as well as groceries and disposables like replacement guaze, tape etc.

Note that I had a second surgery to create my nipples, which was done in her office. I then had my areola pigmentation tattooed on by a cosmetic tattooist.
